Plitt Seafood, Euro USA partner

The parent company of Plitt Seafood on Tuesday announced a joint venture with Euro USA, a Cleveland-based importer and distributor of specialty food products, including seafood.

North Elston Seafood Partners (NESP) said the partnership allows Plitt to streamline its seafood-distribution business in the Midwest and offer its customers Euro USA’s products while helping Euro USA expand into the Chicago market, where Plitt is based.

“By working with Euro USA, we’re gaining many years of expertise in the specialty food and meat industries, while maintaining our seafood identity,” said Plitt CEO John Livaditis. “Our focus continues to be on bringing the best quality seafood to our customers. In aligning Plitt with Euro USA, we can offer them a wider range of products, and while keeping our focus on premium fish and customer service.”

“Working together will allow us to remain as environmentally friendly as possible as we continue to expand our distribution area,” added Euro USA President and CEO Duff O’Donnell. “Both Plitt and Euro understand the importance of sustainability in our markets. This joint venture allows both companies to keep that focus while making smart business moves.”

Founded in 1986, Euro USA distributes about 6,000 specialty food items throughout the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic, with offices in Cleveland and Sterling, Va.

In April, Plitt announced that it is discontinuing service to Detroit and St. Louis and refocusing is efforts on its core markets — greater Chicago, Wisconsin, Indiana, western Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky.
