A leading Chinese importer has signed up one of the country’s most prolific food personalities to promote Arctic shrimp and cod.
The products of Qingdao Spring Foods have already been featured on a special television show hosted by Shi Shang Xiao Mi, a food writer and celebrity chef. The demonstration was filmed at a flagship outlet of Shunfeng Foods (owned by a leading courier firm with a subsidiary dealing in premium imported seafood and other foods) and was screened by Qingdao Spring Foods on the Weibo microblogging platform. The show also featured food expert Fan Xubing, who explained each product’s provenance and suitable cooking methods.
Celebrity and social media are important marketing tools in China, where smartphones are a key driver of the burgeoning online shopping market.
