Santa Monica Seafood names sustainability officer

Santa Monica Seafood on Wednesday announced it promoted Logan Kock to VP of strategic purchasing and responsible sourcing as well as chief sustainability officer.

Kock will oversee the company’s responsible sourcing development program, which targets educating and moving Santa Monica Seafood, its vendors and customers towards offering more or fully sustainable species, increasing community awareness on the issues of environmental responsibility and being an agent of change to facilitate better practices at fisheries with which the company does business.

In addition, the Rancho Dominguez, Calif.-based wholesaler announced it promoted Dave Litle to senior VP of sales and marketing. Litle will oversee the seafood sales and customer service consultants. In addition, he will be overseeing the 2010 rollout of the company’s Chef Express program, a national wholesale FedEx distribution program.

“Santa Monica Seafood is proud of the accomplishments Logan Kock and Dave Litle have made. Logan and Dave have helped make Santa Monica Seafood the benchmark for seafood quality, diversity and availability in the southwestern U.S. at reasonable prices, sourced from responsible fisheries,” said Anthony Cigliano, president. “These promotions are well deserved and represent yet another chapter in our company’s ongoing history.”
