Seafood Expo Southern Europe to showcase top seafood producing nations

Diversified Communications, organizer of Seafood Expo Southern Europe,  announced expanding exhibitor participation, a new product showcase and a special events program for the third edition of its fish and seafood trade exposition scheduled for 22-24 September 2014 at the Fira de Barcelona – Gran Via.

To date, Seafood Expo Southern Europe has attracted seafood companies, associations and business federations from Spain and more than 24 countries, confirming the event’s strategic positioning as a world-class fish and seafood fair focusing on the Mediterranean market.

“Seafood Expo Southern Europe is poised for success,” said Liz Plizga, Diversified Communications show director, which produces the exposition in partnership with Alimentaria Exhibitions.

“Several programs including key buyer, hosted buyer and business matchmaking programs have been enacted to draw high-volume buyers and connect them with exhibiting companies that supply a diverse selection of seafood products. Paired with our organizations’ expertise and involvement in the seafood industry, this year is shaping to be a strong edition.”

Seafood Expo Southern Europe will feature a comprehensive special events program, including:

•    Master Class Series where industry professionals will educate attendees on how to source, select, handle and prepare specific seafood species such as lobster, scallops, and Norwegian salmon among others.  Master classes will be presented by participating companies and pavilions including Junta de Andalucia, Norwegian Seafood Council, Virginia Marine Products Board and the Government of Canada.

•    Culinary Demonstrations where renowned chefs including Isaac Loya from the restaurant El real balneario in Castrillón, Spain; Daní Garcia from the restaurant Daní Garcia in Málaga, Spain; and chef Ismael Prados will demonstrate how to prepare and cook a variety of seafood products.

•    Educational Conference Sessions where influential industry speakers will discuss important topics and market trends that resonate in the Mediterranean market. Conference sessions will include a focus on the support for processing, marketing and commercialization of seafood products under the Common Fisheries Policy from 2014-2020 presented by Miguel Peña Castellot of the European Commission; Responsible Aquaculture will be a topic presented by Emil Avalon, Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) European market development manager for the Global Aquaculture Alliance; and purchasing seafood in Spain and trends in selling seafood internationally will be discussed by Angel Segura Unió, Director of Seafood of the AECOC (Association of Manufacturers & Distributors).

In addition, all participants are welcome to attend the event’s networking reception that will take place on the first day of the exposition, Monday, 22 September from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. on the exhibit floor.

“This complimentary networking event offers exhibitors and attendees the opportunity to meet with leading players in the seafood industry and preview the event’s highlights in a relaxed and social atmosphere,” said Plizga.

Attendees to Seafood Expo Southern Europe are also invited to visit the trade fair’s New Product Showcase located in the exposition hall that will display the latest and most innovative seafood products and services to be launched in the Mediterranean market.
