American seafood producer and distributor Keyport has announced it is acquiring Vantage Seafood, an American company known for importing and marketing products from Asia, Russia and Alaska.
Details of the acquisition itself, including the purchase price, have not yet been disclosed. Keyport is based in Seattle, Wash., while Vantage is located in Redmond.
“I am excited to have Vantage Seafood join our business and we look forward to combining our collective resources to expand our operations with additional products that leverage Vantage Seafood’s unique expertise,” said Mark Pedersen, Keyport’s co-owner and VP.
Keyport is known for its king and snow crab, and the company said in a statement that it will now be able to offer new products such as scallops, tilapia and swai.
“We see a sale to Keyport as being a great strategic fit for our business,” said Les Hodges, president of Vantage Seafood. “Keyport provides Vantage Seafood the resources of a large company while also being a cultural match based on Keyport’s focus on customer service and quality seafood products.“
