Stavis Seafoods enters new select partnership with major foodservice, retail redistributor

Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.-based company Stavis Seafoods has partnered with foodservice redistributor G&C Food Distributors, based in Syracuse, New York, in a union that will enhance Stavis’ supply chain options and increase G&C’s seafood product line, the companies announced on 1 August.

The partnership will see the warehousing and delivery of more than 80 of Stavis Seafoods’ products in G&C's distribution terminals, and will situate Stavis as a premier seafood supplier for G&C Foods, which already re-distributes more than 4,000 products to more than 1,000 foodservice and retail customers in 28 states across the country.

“We are very excited to welcome Stavis Seafoods to the G&C family. We look forward to servicing our customers with the high quality seafood Stavis has to offer,” G&C Foods Seafood Category Manager Ben Humes said in a press release.

Initially, G&C will redistribute the following products as part of the new arrangement: Pasteurized Foods From the Sea Pasteurized Crabmeat, Prince Edward Hard Clams, BOS’N Shrimp & Calamari, Canadian & South African Lobster Tails and Ocean Delight Ahi Tuna Grillers & Sliders.

“G&C’s has a great reputation for customer service and this agreement is a vital part of our strategy to expand customer options," Stavis Seafoods CEO Richard Stavis said. "G&C’s re-distribution capabilities are an exceptionally efficient system for servicing customers, providing more ways for them to get the products they need. This agreement will focus on our frozen, pasteurized and branded seafood and will immediately offer food service customers more access to a wider range of seafood choices,”

The partnership is one success in a series of others for both businesses. G&C Foods is planning to expand and upgrade its facilities, and was just named "The 2nd Best Company to Work for in New York State 2016" by NYS Society for Human Resource Management. Meanwhile, Stavis recently solidified its plans for a new Boston-based headquarters and processing facility located at the Port of Boston, an investment exceeding USD 40 million (EUR 35.8 million). The facility will be the largest, seafood-related, private investment in the Port’s history, according to the company.

Stavis currently has an inventory of more than 1,100 seafood products and imports from more than 51 countries and every ocean in the world.

“This agreement will provide G&C customers, both food service and retail, with unique, quality seafood products sourced worldwide,” Humes concluded.
