Broadline distributor US Foods has named Trident Seafoods as its supplier of the year – the first time a seafood vendor has earned the distinction.
Seattle, Washington-based Trident earned the award because of its “commitment to sustainability, collaboration on new items and initiatives, and support from the field teams,” a US Foods spokesperson said in an email to SeafoodSource.
Trident also won the distributor’s Center of the Plate Award – the first seafood supplier to win this award – for its “superior performance in Center of the Plate,” the spokesperson said.
“Trident Seafoods has been a valued partner to US Foods for decades and truly exemplifies what it means to be a leader in the protein industry. Their sustainability-driven mission is commendable and they uphold it as high as they do their commitment to their partners’ success,” the spokesperson said.
Trident was among four companies from 3,000 of its vendor partners to receive awards during the company’s Fall Food Lovers Forum in Chicago, Illinois.
“We’re proud to work with these companies who share our same strong, core values. They are a testament to our mission of helping independent restaurateurs ‘Make It,’ and help us deliver on our ‘Great Food. Made Easy.’ strategy,” the spokesperson said.
