Preferred Freezer Services’ swift action in communicating a missing truckload of frozen shrimp was key in the recovery of all of the product for its customer, Network Commodities.
The Chatham, N.J.-based cold-storage provider said it took immediate action once it learned that the shrimp had been heisted, sharing the details with its seafood customer network. Preferred’s extensive security camera system along with its efforts to capture driver license information helped law enforcement to move quickly in the case.
In addition, the company offered a USD 5,000 reward to locate the stolen shrimp. The monetary reward made it virtually impossible to store, hold or sell the 1,550 cases of frozen shrimp.
The collaborative effort between Network Commodities, the police and Preferred resulted in the recovery of the shrimp in less than 48 hours after the news was released, and the truckload was delivered to the customer without any damages.
