Two new vessels targeting saury and squid stocks have left the yard of a Chinese shipbuilder, who claims the boats are “world-class” in terms of technology.
The 77-meter-long vessels were built for Fuzhou Zhong Fan Yuan Yang Yu Ye (Distant Ocean Fishery Co) by the Zhong Bai Jing Lu shipbuilding firm in Penglai, near Qingdao in Shandong Province.
Zhong Fan is one of many fishery companies based in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province, which in the past two decades – and the past five years in particular – have targeted international fisheries.
