U.S. Pacific Andes division breaks sales records, lands retail accounts

National Fish & Seafood (NFS), a division of Pacific Andes Group based in Gloucester, Mass., experienced a “record-breaking” first quarter this year, thanks in part to two new major retail accounts.

With expanded product offerings and with the leadership of James Faro as director of sales and R&D, NFS has re-focused its efforts on six product categories: bagged shrimp, bagged fillets, breaded shrimp, breaded fish, specialty and stuffed. The company has earned listings with leading retailers Albertson’s and Safeway.

“Our goal is to provide full-service to our customers, wherever they are, across our complete selection of products,” said Jim Faro. “Whether a convenience store or supermarket, restaurant or institutional dining hall, we deliver the right products at the right time that are ready to eat, and ideal to meet both today's demanding consumer and retailer needs.”

NFS in March launched a new collection of products from its Discover Matlaw’s brand at Seafood Expo North America, including Seafood Paella, Southern Country Fried Breaded Shrimp, Salmon Burgers, Buffalo Popcorn Shrimp and restaurant-style Jumbo Butterfly Popcorn Shrimp.

As an industry leader in seafood sustainability, NFS is making strides in advancing responsible aquaculture, working with two of India’s four-star Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP)-certified shrimp suppliers, Penver Products and Suryamitra Exim (P) Ltd. NFS and Suryamitra are preparing to certify an additional 150 acres of farms, significantly increasing the group’s offerings of four-star shrimp. The four-star designation signifies BAP certification at each facility along the supply chain (hatchery, feed mill, farm and processing plant).

“We are raising the bar for standards in farm-raised seafood worldwide, continually committed to providing the best product to our customers, and always seeking new ways to improve quality and ensure the supply of delicious seafood and innovative new products to our buyers,” said NFS President Jack Ventola.
