The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Friday reported that 2010 trout sales fell 5 percent from 2009.
U.S. trout production totaled USD 71.3 million (farm gate) last year, with Idaho accounting for nearly half of the total.
The number of trout 12 inches or longer sold totaled USD 38.7 million last year, down 5 percent from the previous year. The number of 6- to 12-inch trout sold totaled 5.27 million fish in 2010, also down 5 percent from 2009. The number of 1- to 6-inch trout sold amounted to 8.78 million fish last year, a 26 percent increase from the previous year.
