Value of Iceland’s seafood up 25%

The total value of the catch of Icelandic fishing vessels increased by 25.8 percent over the same period last year. The total value amounted to ISK 47.3 billion (USD 378 million, EUR 300 million) in the period January to March 2012, compared with ISK 37.6 billion (USD 300 million, EUR 238 million) in the first three months of 2011, according to the latest data from Statistics Iceland.

Demersal species accounted for ISK 29 billion (USD 232 million, EUR 184 million).
