Young’s names seafood industry veteran Pete Ward CEO

U.K. seafood manufacturer Young’s Seafood Ltd. on Wednesday named Pete Ward its new CEO.

Until recently the company’s deputy chief executive, Ward has held a number of leadership roles in finance, operations and management. He succeeds James Hill, who is now CEO of parent company Findus Group. Hill served as CEO of Young’s for less than one year, as he took the reins from Leendert den Hollander.

“His knowledge of and experience of the seafood industry is second to none and his drive, ingenuity, innovation and commitment to manufacturing excellence has been crucial to the development of the company,” said Hill of Ward. “It has been a great privilege to look after Young’s Seafood Ltd. for the past nine months, I have been very impressed by the quality of the management and I am now turning my attention to other parts of the Findus Group. Having worked closely with Pete over the past year, I’m delighted that he will now lead Young’s Seafood Ltd. through the next phase of the company’s journey.”

Ward joined The Seafood Company in 1978, which became part of Young’s in 2008.

“With a heritage spanning over 200 years, Young’s Seafood has a special place in the hearts of many people in Britain," said Ward. "I’m delighted to lead such an impressive team of fish experts – from our development chef to our marine biologist and from our marketers to our production operatives – each and every one of them has an important part to play in Young’s. With quality, supply chain integrity and responsible sourcing right at the heart of our business strategy, Young’s Seafood Limited is on course for a successful future.”
