Wendy’s and Church’s Chicken add seafood dishes for Lent

Two large U.S. fast food restaurant chains are adding seafood dishes for the Lenten season.

Atlanta, Georgia-based Church’s Chicken is focusing on shrimp this year by bringing back its USD 5.00 (EUR 4.41) Pick-Your-Platter promotion, which includes a new Garlic Butter Shrimp Platter, along with a Shrimp ’n’ Tenders Platter and a Crispy Fish Platter.

Meanwhile, Wendy’s is bringing back its Premium Cod Fillet Sandwich for a limited time. The sandwich includes a wild North Pacific cod fillet that is fried in a crunchy panko breading and topped with a creamy dill tartar sauce, dill pickle slices, and lettuce on a toasted bun.

Church’s is also promoting a Crispy Fish Fry family meal, which includes eight Crispy Fish fillets, three large sides, and six Honey-Butter biscuits.

The Church’s promotions start on 25 February and run for a limited time.

"In addition to our signature chicken, guests welcome Church's longstanding tradition of serving seasonal seafood," said Jennifer Chasteen, vice president of brand strategy and activation for Church's. "We're excited to bring back some of our most popular dishes and introduce bold flavor innovation in our new Garlic Butter Shrimp.”
