In the December edition of ShrimpTails, we looked back at a record year for Ecuadorian exporters. With increasing direct exports to China and production record being broken month after month, 2018 appears to have been a very positive year overall for Ecuador. However, with farm gate prices continually dropping and current demand from both China and the U.S. – two of Ecuador’s biggest export markets – being low, the positive vibe has lost some of its brilliance. ShrimpTails sources at big exporting companies in Ecuador are unsure about how the situation is going to develop in 2019.
