Narragansett, Rhode Island, U.S.A.-based American Seafood Partners (ASP) has acquired Cal Marine Fish Co., LLC (Cal Marine), a premier West Coast commercial fishing, export, and vessel management company.
Formerly known as American Food Partners before rebranding in March, ASP is a vertically integrated domestic seafood company founded in 2023 with a focus on wild-caught squid. Brands under ASP’s portfolio include Sea Fresh USA, Handrigan Seafoods, and The Town Dock, the last of which was acquired in March 2025.
ASP said the purchase of Cal Marine expands the company’s reach into West Coast fisheries and strengthens its position in the commercial squid and seafood industry.
“This acquisition marks a significant milestone in our strategy to build a truly comprehensive, coast-to-coast seafood platform,” ASP Executive Chairman Ryan Clark said in a release. “By combining our east coast processing and distribution strength with Cal Marine’s established harvesting capabilities and location along the Pacific coast, ASP is positioned to deliver even greater value, consistency, and supply to our customers.”
Cal Marine is a Los Angelos, California, U.S.A.-based squid-fishing and processing company with a fleet of fishing vessels, cold storage infrastructure, and facilities near key West Coast ports.
"Cal Marine represents another superior addition to ASP," ASP Principal Ignacio Tirado said in a release. "As a respected company that lands a significant portion of the west coast squid quota, Cal Marine continues to strengthen ASP’s position as the leader in foodservice squid in the USA and around the world."
