Akva overhauls management team

Akva Group on Thursday announced it changed its management structure to strengthen its market orientation, simplify the organization and create more efficient command lines.

The Norwegian aquaculture technology company expanded its management team from six to 11. The main changes, effective immediately, are:

• Morten Nærland, after serving as general manager for Akva Group Chile, is now deputy CEO and will relocate to Norway in early 2010.

• Odd Martin Solem was appointed director for PRU-Software to increase the focus on software solution within the group; the position is now part of the group management team.

• Jone Gjerde, former COO, was appointed chief technology officer and PRU-Hardware director.

• Former Akva Group Denmark Manager Jørgen Scheel is now director for PRU-Recirculation, and the position is now part of the group management team.

• Trond Severinsen, chief market officer, now has the additional responsibility for new markets.

• Stig Martin Bø will continue as director for Nordic sales, but the position is now part of the group management team.

• David Thorburn will continue as general manager for the group’s activity in the United Kingdom and Ireland and is now moved part of the group management team.

• Andrew Campbell, who was second in command in Chile, will become general manager for Latin America as a part of the group management team.

• Patrick Dempster will continue as general manager for AKVA Group North America as a member of the group management team.
