Bakkafrost’s fourth-quarter salmon harvest declines

Faroese salmon producer Bakkafrost Group harvested 11,400 metric tons (MT) of gutted weight fish in the fourth quarter of 2017, down from 12,900 MT in the corresponding period of the previous year and 13,675 MT in Q4 2015.

With no fish coming from the company’s farming operations in the north of the Faroes, its farms in the west supplied the last quarter’s entire volume.

Bakkafrost also sold 19,000 MT of feed in three-month period, down from 25,000 MT in Q4 2016.

The company’s most recent harvest guidance for 2017 as a whole was 54,500 MT, and it expects to harvest 51,000 MT this year.
