Grieg acquires two Shetland salmon farmers

Grieg Seafood subsidiary Grieg Seafood Hjaltland on Tuesday announced that it has agreed to acquire two salmon farming companies in Shetland for NOK 19.5 million (USD 3.7 million, EUR 2.5 million).

Collectively, Skelda Salmon Farms Ltd. and G. Duncan (Salmon) Ltd. hold two production licenses/sites and farm equipment and harvest approximately 2,300 metric tons of salmon per generation.

The two sites are located on the southwest coast of Shetland, in one of Grieg Seafood Hjaltland’s existing production areas, making it an ideal fit, according to the Norwegian company. The two sites are currently empty but will be stocked in the spring of 2012.
