Iran invests in shrimp farms

Two 20-hectare shrimp farms have been set up in Gomishan, Golestan province, said the head of the Technical and Development Office of Golestan Fishery Organization.

Ali Nosrati added that the private sector has invested IRR 6 billion (USD 488,400/EUR 367,596) in the shrimp farms, adding that the projects were implemented to expand shrimp breeding, generate jobs and optimize consumption of water and soil resources. ?

The official said a project to build an office for Bandar Torkaman Fishery Department, at a cost of USD 1.9 billion (EUR 1.4 billion), will go on stream in the near future.
