The Scottish Salmon Co. (SSC) on Monday announced that Scottish Seafood Investments Ltd. (SSI), a joint venture between SSC and its majority shareholder, Northern Link Ltd., has invested in Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd.
The investment will allow Loch Fyne to grow further both in the United Kingdom and internationally and will ensure that the company can capitalize on its iconic Scottish brand and penetrate new export markets, according to SSC. The two companies will work together in sales and branding, as SSC also looks to expand its presence internationally.
Loch Fyne farms oysters and mussels and operates a smoker from its site at Cairndow at the head of Loch Fyne. SSC is the area’s only salmon producer, located on the west coast of Argyll and Bute, Scotland.
SSC harvests about 24,000 metric tons of salmon annually, representing about 20 percent of Scotland’s salmon production.
