Medley, Florida, U.S.A.-based seafood firm Bonamar is seeking to grow its business in Asia, announcing a new procurement agreement with Ocean Source Group and two executive-level hires with responsibilities for the company’s Asian operations.
Based in the British Virgin Islands with operations in Thailand, Ocean Source Group will supply blue-swimming crab and other seafood to Bonamar.
“As Bonamar continues to expand its global presence, so does its need [grow] for expanding [its] Asian operations,” Bonamar said in a press release.
As part of the partnership, two Ocean Source employees will move to Bonamar. Michael Hallager has been hired as senior director of Asian operations and Craig Perry is now the company’s director of Asian business development. Both are former executives with Philips Foods.
The focus on Asia is part of Bonamar’s larger growth strategy, which also includes an expansion of its value-added product offerings – in particular, a ramping-up of its selection pre-portioned finfish.
“Now more than ever in this global industry, vertical integration and strategic partnerships are key into finding new ways to innovate and add value for our customers,” Bonamar President and CEO Argenis Contreras said. “Having the right operations teams is essential to our growth and we are very pleased to welcome Michael and Craig to our company. With their extensive backgrounds and combined expertise, we are confident we will meet our company’s objectives in Asia.”
