Florida Organic Aquaculture seeks buyer

The owners of Florida Organic Aquaculture LLC are considering a sale of the company in order to raise more capital to fund its operations.

The Fellsmere, Florida-based firm has retained Equity Partners HG to seek an investor, partner or buyer for its “state- of- the-art, technology-driven shrimp farming operation.”

“This is an excellent opportunity to invest in or purchase a state-of-the-art shrimp farming operation with infrastructure in place to quickly expand as needed,” Equity Partners HG Managing Director Hank Waida said.

Florida Organic Aquaculture breeds, processes and sells shrimp for the U.S. domestic market. In a press release, Waida said the company has developed cultivation techniques yielding “approximately 20 times more shrimp than traditional pen and pond farms.”

The company “has focused its research on alternative shrimp dietary approaches and developing successful cultivation processing techniques,” Waida said. “These production methods enable faster grow-out, making it practical to sell shrimp that command up to twice the price of commodity sizes.”

Florida Organic Aquaculture shrimp are currently sold directly to a tier-one grocery chain, seafood wholesalers, and several prominent seafood restaurants, according to the company.

Waida said the company’s operations can be franchised, and that it is development a value-added component that may be added to the company’s franchising plans in the future.
