Thai Union’s Darian McBain takes board seat at Indonesian palm oil company

Thai Union’s Darian McBain has joined the board of directors of palm oil producer MP Evans as a non-executive director, the latter said in a statement earlier this week.

McBain will start in her new role effective 1 January next year.

McBain has more than 20 years' experience working in sustainability roles. She is currently global director of corporate affairs and sustainability at Thai Union, a position she has held since July 2015.

At Thai Union, Darian has been focused on implementing change to drive sustainability through the entire global seafood industry and beyond, said MP Evans, which has operations in Indonesia and Malaysia.

Darian also has experience within the palm oil industry, working for a year beginning in March 2014 as a sustainable palm oil manager for WWF-Australia, where she helped to influence the sustainability of global supply chains for palm oil and assess risk in company supply chains.

“We are delighted that Darian has agreed to join the group. She has extensive knowledge and experience of corporate affairs and sustainability, including in the palm-oil industry,” MP Evans Executive Chairman Peter Hadsley-Chaplin said. “Darian's significant experience and recognition as a leader in the field of sustainability will be invaluable to MP Evans."
