The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) just purchased nearly USD 23.8 million (EUR 22 million) worth of canned salmon and frozen pollock for child nutrition and other related domestic food assistance programs.

Seattle, Washington-based Ocean Beauty Seafoods will supply nearly USD 17.3 million (EUR 15 million) worth of canned pink salmon, while Seattle, Washington-based Trident Seafoods was awarded a contract to deliver around USD 6.1 million (EUR 5.4 million) worth of frozen Alaska pollock fish fillets and canned pink salmon.

Bellevue, Washington-based Peter Pan Seafoods will deliver around USD 408,000 (EUR 363,000) worth of canned pink salmon.

The companies will make deliveries from 1 July through 21 December, 2020, USDA said in the award notice.

However, 1,520 cases (1 truckload) of canned pink salmon were not awarded “due to no bids offered,” USDA said.
