Icelandic seafood company HB Grandi has opened a new sorting station at its Nordurgardur location. The facility will handle waste from the company’s activities in Reykjavik and from its vessels docking there.
The aim is to significantly reduce the volume of waste that goes for landfill and to increase the proportion that goes for recycling.
All the waste from production, workshop, offices and cold store will be collected at a single point and sorted precisely, said the company.
A staff competition is underway to come up with a name for the station.
