Local Abundance partners with D.C. distributor

Local Abundance, a sustainability education program, on Thursday announced a partnership with seafood distributor ProFish.

In an effort to further promote sustainability and to improve communication about its responsibly sourced products, the Washington-based ProFish will be securing Local Abundance training for many of its restaurant and retail customers.

Trainings will be conducted on-site and in webinar format and will cover a wide range of sustainability issues, including catch methods, habitat damage and aquaculture. Customers will also be trained on each sustainable item, what makes it unique and how best to communicate the selling points to consumers.

This is not ProFish’s first sustainability initiative. The company utilizes 100 percent of the protein for a positive purpose, uses green energy and delivery resources and its Carbon FishPrint scores seafood items on the carbon energy necessary to harvest.
