On Thursday, Congresswoman Lois Capps announced she will act as the lead sponsor of the Safety and Fraud Enforcement for Seafood Act, or SAFE Seafood Act.
The SAFE Seafood Act is a bill that requires better labeling and safety inspections of seafood sold in the United States.
Capps says the United States imports up to 90 percent of its seafood, but only 1 percent is inspected.
