Fish oil drink introduced

Nordic Naturals, on of the world’s largest producers of omega-3 fish oil products, on Tuesday introduced Omega-3 Effervescent, an orange-flavored water-soluble drink mix containing eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).

The mix offers the health benefits of omega-3s and vitamin D3 without the taste of fish.

Omega-3 Effervescent contains cod liver oil made from Arctic cod harvested in a sustainable manner from Norwegian waters. The mix is packaged in single-serving packets, and each serving offers 500 millagrams of EPA and DHA as well as 1,200 international units of vitamin D3. It is available in 7- and 21-count packages.

“In a traditional delivery system like soft gels, the omega-3s in cod liver oil needs to be gradually broken down by stomach acids in order to be absorbed in the small intestine. With the effervescent technology in place, the omega-3s can be absorbed and enter the blood stream faster — in as little as 15 minutes,” said Bradley West, Nordic Naturals research advisor. “Omega-3 Effervescent is the ultimate solution for individuals with digestive challenges, or those that find it hard to swallow soft gels, as well as the perfect way to ensure compliance when traveling.”
