250 people invited to upcoming seafood ‘house party’

The Seafood Nutrition Partnership (SNP) will host a house party at the beginning of October to help build awareness surrounding the need to include seafood in regular meal planning, with 250 people invited to attend.

The Seafood Nutrition House Party, scheduled for 1 October takes into consideration the 2015-2020 USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which recommend eating seafood at least twice a week to take in at least 250mg of omega-3s EPA+DHA per day. Consumers are being encouraged by SNP to host their own Seafood Nutrition House Party, particularly those residing in the organization’s eight target markets: AL, FL, IN, KY, OH, OK, TN and WV.

“This is a great chance to get your friends together for a fun meal with some amazing seafood recipes as you learn how eating seafood twice a week is essential for a healthy heart,” explained SNP. “At your party, you'll showcase your passion for seafood and heart health, and Seafood Nutrition Partnership will provide everything you need to make it a success. So invite all your friends over to take the Healthy Heart Pledge, enjoy delicious recipes and have a great time learning how important and easy it is to incorporate seafood into your meals every week.”

“We invite everyone interested in seafood nutrition to plan a Seafood House Party on October 1 and use hashtag #SeafoodParty2016 and #HealthyHeartPledge to kick off National Seafood Month 2016!” added SNP Executive Director Linda Cornish in a prepared statement.
