5 best places for seafood in Brussels

Elliana Bar El recently penned a brilliant guide to fashion, entertainment, and food in Brussels in Vogue Magazine.

For seafood, Bar El recommends Le Mess, located on the Boulevard Louis Schmidt in Etterbeek. Housed in a renovated prison and historic military base for more than a century, this restaurant has a fierce devotion to local seafood like trout from the Belgian fishing port of Vielsalm.

Deriving inspiration from its original, historical architecture, Le Mess, spreads over two floors, capped off with a four-sided glass room to let in the warm rays of sunshine. The restauranteurs describe themselves as "going with the flow of the seasons." Try the octopus tartar with fennel and tangy apple, or hake back served with parmesan broth, chives, and asparagus.
