The Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation (AFDF) has announced that this year’s Alaska Symphony of Seafood event is set for 19 November and will take place at the King Street Ballroom in Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.
The annual event celebrates the year's innovations in the Alaska seafood industry.
"The event highlights culinary creativity, product innovation, and a shared commitment to our region’s seafood industry," AFDF CEO Kristy Clement said. "Amid challenging times, we’re proud to showcase new Alaskan seafood products and recognize the industry leaders who are shaping the future of this vital industry.”
Attendees will be greeted with a reception featuring exclusive tastings of this year’s Alaska seafood entries in the Best New Retail Product, Best New Foodservice Product, Beyond the Plate, and Seafood Innovation categories, among others.
Celebrity chefs, including Roy Breiman – the vice president of food and beverage at Columbia Hospitality) – Kati Lauffer – the culinary director at Nordstrom – Jason Stoneburner – the chef and owner of Seattle restaurant Stoneburner – David Tangkilisin – the chef at Seattle restaurant Chinook’s – and Rachel Yang – the chef and owner of Seattle restaurants Joule and Revel – will judge the tasting competition.
A seated dinner and awards ceremony will follow. The evening will also include live and silent auctions, featuring a range of unique prizes, including a 10-pound box of Alaskan red king crab, a seven-day Baja Mexico cruise with UnCruise Adventures, an Alaska Sea Planes flight, and a special tour of the U.S. Pentagon building.
A portion of the Symphony of Seafood’s proceeds will go to supporting the nonprofit SeaShare, which has partnered with the seafood industry to donate more than 275 million servings of fish to communities in need and is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
The Alaska Symphony of Seafood event is supported by the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute and Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association, along with the Marine Stewardship Council and others.
The Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 1978 under the Magnuson-Stevens Fisheries Conservation and Management Act. It focuses on supporting sustainable growth and innovation within Alaska’s seafood industry through collaborative partnerships, research-driven initiatives, and community-focused programs.
