Bo knows seafood: Harbor Seafood teams with former pro athlete

Harbor Seafood Inc. has entered into a joint venture with famous former professional athlete Bo Jackson to be the seafood supplier for the food division of Jackson’s VEJ Holdings, LLC.

Bo’s 34 Signature Foods will market and sell premium seafood products to foodservice and retail customers this fall. The line will include lobster, crab and tuna entrees as well as appetizers like crab cakes, seafood-stuffed crab, scallops and more for casual and fine-dining concepts, the military, casinos and more.

Retail products will include a surf-and-turf option to complement Bo’s tailgating package and premium burger line. The “Home Run” surf-and-turf pack is targeting a national roll-out by early 2016.

“We appreciate the opportunity to partner with Mr. Jackson and to promote quality seafood together,” said Christian Limberg, president of New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Harbor Seafood. “This joint venture comes at a time of tremendous growth for both companies. Passion, perseverance and our synergies is a formula for the makings of a winning team!”

VEJ Holdings (VEJ stands for Vincent Edward Jackson) is a full-service distributor based in Naperville, Ill. Jackson was a standout professional athlete who played for Major League Baseball’s Kansas City Royals and Chicago White Sox and the National Football League’s Los Angeles (now Oakland) Raiders franchises.
