Camanchaca, Salmones Austral partner up again to bring new salmon products to US market

Camanchaca Inc., the U.S. arm of Chilean salmon farming enterprise Camanchaca S.A., has renewed its partnership agreement with Salmones Austral, the company announced on 8 May.

The renewal of the partnership will ensure that Salmones Austral’s fresh and frozen salmon fillets and portions will continue to be marketed, sold and distributed to the North American market by Camanchaca Inc. In turn, with the additional volumes offered via Salmones Austral, Camanchaca Inc. will be able to keep offering its customers a balanced portfolio and supply for the entire year. 

“All salmon farming companies have peaks and valleys in their production cycles, all of them also have size distribution variances over the course of a year. By consolidating the production of our two operations, we smooth out the peaks and valleys of either company’s production,” said Bert Bachmann, President of Camanchaca Inc., in a prepared statement. 

Frozen value-added products including Blackened and Bourbon flavor varieties, produced by Salmones Austral, for the Pier 33 Gourmet retail brand will also be available to Camanchaca Inc.’s North American client base. These “convenient meal solutions were a hit at their launch at the recent Seafood Expo North America in Boston,” according to Camanchaca Inc. “They are being presold as they make their way to the U.S. and are expected to hit retail shelves in early summer,” the company explained.
