Captain D’s expands further up the US East Coast

Captain D’s, which operates 514 fast casual seafood restaurants in the United States, signed a franchise development agreement to open five restaurants in South Carolina over the next several years.

The company has experienced a surge in franchise development this year, it said, after “achieving its sixth consecutive year of same-store sales increases as well as its fourth successive year of record high system-wide average unit volume.”

“The compounding success Captain D’s has experienced is a true testament to the strength of our business model, which has allowed us to appeal to a new, wider demographic of consumers,” said Michael Arrowsmith, chief development officer of Captain D’s. “South Carolina is chock-full of potential, and we look forward to expanding our footprint in the state.”

GOALZ Restaurant Group plans to open five new restaurants over the next several years throughout the Greenville-Spartanburg area, as well as in Rock Hill, with Captain D’s. Shawn Eby and Danny Robinson will serve as principal owner and vice president of operations, respectively. GOALZ is also currently developing new Captain D’s locations in Kentucky and North Carolina.

Part of Captain D’s growth can be attributed to its new restaurant beach design. Sixty percent of its restaurants have been reimaged to the brand’s coastal design, and another 50 locations will be remodeled by the end of this year.
