Representing the state of Oregon in the 13th annual Great American Seafood Cook-Off (GASCO) – to take place in New Orleans, Louisiana on 6 August – is Bethy Rossos, a prominent culinary public figure best known for her participation in TV programs such as MasterChef, Wanted Adventure Woman, Adrenaline Hunter and Outdoor GPS.
Rossos was officially appointed by the state’s Governor’s office to compete in the latest installment of GASCO, and will be joined by a delegation from Seafood OREGON at the event. She has served the foodservice realm in several capacities throughout her career, having been a caterer, private chef, cooking instructor/demonstrator and gourmet food truck owner/operator. When she isn’t cooking or teaching, Rossos also operates a cooking blog, accessible here: www.cookingrusticwithbethyrossos.com
Rachel Cox, a sous chef and Rossos’ sister, will cook alongside Bethy in the competition.
Seafood OREGON is sponsoring Oregon’s ticket into GASCO. A marketing, promotion and education venture made up of the state’s four industry-funded Commodity Commissions – the Oregon Albacore, Dungeness Crab, Salmon and Trawl Commissions – Seafood OREGON functions under the authority of the Oregon Department of Agriculture.
