Grimsby-based seafood supplier JCS Fish has scored a national distribution contract with British online retailer Ocado, the company announced on 20 August.
Ocado’s platform will feature JCS Fish’s range of BigFish Brand Salmon Bites and Goujons, products conceptualized with the fast-growing, booming breaded fish market in mind. Three products from the range currently have listings on Ocado per the contract: Salmon Bites and Salmon Goujons with a plain golden crumb, and Salmon Bites with Lemon & Pepper crumb.
Made from premium salmon fillets and coated in a crispy breadcrumb, the BigFish Brand Salmon Bites and Goujons range appeals to consumers’ trending desire for comfort food items, according to Louise Coulbeck, director of JCS Fish.
“We are delighted to have achieved national distribution with Ocado for these products, which takes salmon into the same territory as fish fingers and scampi. Breaded products are very much part of a fast-growing consumer trend for ‘comfort’ foods, so this range is a great fit with the market,” Coulbeck said in a press release.
Products within the BigFish brand can be prepared from frozen via a variety of cooking methods, including oven roasting and baking, grilling, and frying. The brand’s offerings are “ideal for lunches, midweek meals or fast suppers, including for kids,” JCS Fish said.
A family-owned business, JCS Fish was founded in 2000 and specializes in premium salmon products for both foodservice and retail.
