JFC International hosts tuna expos in California

Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.-based JFC International recently hosted two food- and -beverage-focused events designed to showcase Japanese seafood to the foodservice sector in California.

More than 1,500 restaurant owners and wholesale buyers attended the 14th annual JFC International Inc. LA Sake and Food Expo, which took place at the Hilton Orange County in Costa Mesa, California, on 22 May. The event featured 42 alcohol and 46 food exhibitors.

The company’s 11th annual San Francisco Sake and Food Expo took place on 24 May in Fremont, California, at the Marriott Silicon Valley. More than 700 restaurant owners and wholesale buyers attended the event.

Both events showcased seafood products imported directly from the Toyosu Fish Market in Tokyo, Japan, including crab, oysters, scallops, and octopus, and a variety of fresh fish. A Kyokuyo TUNAGU bluefin tuna, raised via a closed-cycle method of aquaculture – meaning the fish is raised from egg to harvest – was dismantled at both events as well.

JFC International, a subsidiary of the Kikkoman Group, distributes Asian products, including fresh and frozen seafood, to more than 12,000 customers in 25 locations in North America. Customers include restaurants, retail stores, military bases, and other wholesalers, the company said in a press release.
