Meal kit provider HelloFresh has launched an online store with fresh seafood.

Meal kit provider HelloFresh has launched an online store with pantry staples that include several fresh seafood and prepared seafood items.

“The new HelloFresh Market has “a great selection” of fresh seafood, including salmon, lobster tails, shrimp, and barramundi, a company spokesperson told SeafoodSource.

"We also have ready-to-heat clam chowder and seafood gumbo,” the spokesperson said. The offerings rotate, so customers can look forward to additional options in the future, according to the spokesperson.

HelloFresh offers customers add-ons to meal kits, ranging from quick meals to pantry essentials, the company said in a press release.

“The Market gives customers a convenient way to get breakfast options, ready-to-heat meals or everyday items – such as fresh produce, snacks, desserts, sides, spice blends, grocery essentials, and more – delivered to their doorstep simply by adding them to their weekly HelloFresh order,” HelloFresh said.

HelloFresh is one of several meal-kit providers exploring additional revenue streams as overall meal-kit sales have dropped since the start of the pandemic, according to Coresight Research.

The research company predicts that the meal-kit market’s growth rate will drop from almost 70 percent in 2020 to 18.2 percent in 2021.

Until now, HelloFresh has largely provided dinnertime recipes, but the company also sees opportunities in other meal occasions.

“With the launch of HelloFresh Market, we are excited to offer customers an expanded selection of delicious meal solutions and grocery items that will fit their needs beyond dinnertime, especially at a time when Americans are embracing online grocery services more than ever,” Hello Fresh U.S. CEO Uwe Voss said.

The range of Market offerings will be rolling out to all customers across the U.S. over the coming months.

New bundles featuring “thoughtfully-selected items for seasonal enjoyment or entertainment” – ranging from summertime barbecue essentials to special Mother’s Day brunch options – will also be regularly introduced on the Market, according to Hello Fresh.

“HelloFresh Market offers greater value and convenience to customers as a one-stop option for both curated grocery items and mealtime inspiration. This helps HelloFresh better serve its customer base and grow transactional spend,” the company said.
