The Fourth of July is one of the year’s biggest holidays for cookouts in the United States, and retailers nationwide are capitalizing on the celebration by advertising seafood.
Lobster, shrimp and grill-friendly fish are among the seafood items supermarkets are discounting over the holiday weekend.
Fry’s Food Stores in Arizona is advertising keta, or chum, salmon fillets for USD 3.79 (EUR 2.68) per pound and halibut fillets for USD 9.99 (EUR 7.05) per pound. The chain has also shrimp (USD 5.99, EUR 4.23), lobster tails (USD 8.99, EUR 6.35) and king crab legs (USD 9.99, EUR 7.05) on special.
King Soopers in Colorado is also advertising halibut fillets, lobster tails and shrimp for USD 9.99 (EUR 7.05), USD 5.99 (EUR 4.23) and USD 4.99 (EUR 3.52) per pound, respectively.
Schnucks, which operates more than 100 stores in seven Midwestern states, is advertising shrimp for USD 3.69 (EUR 2.60) to USD 4.99 (EUR 3.52) and Alaska cod fillets for USD 5.49 (EUR 3.87) per pound.
Giant Eagle, which runs more than 225 stores in four Mid-Atlantic states, has shrimp on special for USD 6.49 (EUR 4.58) and jumbo lobster claws for USD 9.99 (EUR 7.05). The chain also has Alaska sockeye salmon fillets on ad for USD 12.99 (EUR 9.17) per pound.
