Wild Planet debuts Ready-to-Eat Tuna Salad Bowls

Sustainable tuna brand Wild Planet has launched a line of Ready-to-Eat Tuna Salad Bowls. The bowls will be sold in Whole Foods Market stores nationwide starting next month, followed by other natural and conventional grocery stores.

The wild skipjack tuna featured in each the Ready-to-Eat Tuna Salad Bowl is 100-percent pole-and-line caught, and the bowls are made with 100-percent recyclable, plastic-free packaging, the Mckinleyville, California, U.S.A.-based supplier said in a press release. The bowls are also made with organic, non-GMO vegetables, pasta, and legumes.

"After months of development, we are proud to share these new items with our consumers. These Ready-to-Eat Tuna Salad Bowls are a great-tasting, nutritious option that give our consumers the peace of mind knowing each salad is made from responsibly sourced ingredients,” Wild Planet President and Founder Bill Carvalho said.

Flavors of the 5.6-ounce Ready-to-Eat Tuna Salad Bowls include: Wild Tuna Pasta Salad with organic red peppers, tomatoes, and green olives; Wild Tuna White Bean Salad with organic chickpeas, carrots, red peppers, and green olives; Wild Tuna, Bean and Corn Salad with organic sweet corn, red peppers, and carrots.

The bowls are available via the company's website and on Amazon for a suggested retail price of USD 4.99 (EUR 4.17) per bowl. In May, the bowls will be available in Whole Foods Markets nationwide, followed by a rollout in additional natural and conventional grocers.

"I founded Wild Planet with the utmost reverence for ocean life, and our Ready-to-Eat Tuna Salad Bowls align with that principle, encouraging people to incorporate pole and line tuna into their diets with the hopes of moving the fishing industry toward more selective harvesting,” Carvalho said.
