Young’s introducing wholemeal cod portions

Young’s Foodservice is launching its first frozen wholemeal-based breadcrumb product into the foodservice channel.

Its Wholemeal Cod Portions, 85 grams each, are coated in a light, wholemeal breadcrumb “for added fiber, which makes them an excellent source of nutrition for children of all ages,” said the Grimsby, United Kingdom-based supplier in a statement.

“We understand the challenges caterers face when creating a varied menu, and our Wholemeal Cod Portions provides the perfect solution for including something different, without straying too far from the traditional breaded fish dishes children know and love,” said Adrian Greaves, foodservice director at Young’s Foodservice.

The Wholemeal Cod Portions were developed to meet school food standard guidelines and the product is sustainably-sourced and Marine Stewardship Council-certified.

“We listened to customers who asked for a new take on our deliciously crunchy breadcrumb. The wholemeal cod portions are a great source of protein and have a higher fibre content due to the 100 parent wholegrain wheat flour used in the breadcrumb,” Greaves said.

The new products is sold in case sizes of 50 portions each, and a portion can be cooked in 10 minutes.
