BioMar makes new hire to bolster salmon-feed product innovation

Brande, Denmark-based BioMar is planning a deeper push into the development of new concepts and products around salmon aquaculture feeds, it said in a press release.

As part of its “planning for future product launches and new feed product concepts,” it has hired Marcel Huijsmans as its marketing director. Huijsmans spent the previous 12 years as the director of communications and marketing at Boxmeer, the Netherlands-headquartered animal genetics company Hendrix Genetics.

BioMar said it established the new position to “ensure strong leadership on delivering agile product development to meet customer needs, together with a rigorous and focus on customer value and sustainability.”

“I am pleased that we have been able to attract an international marketing leader such as Marcel Huijsmans to BioMar,” BioMar Salmon Division Vice President Paddy Campbell said in a press release. “With 20 years of experience within the food industry and agriculture/aquaculture businesses across various categories ranging from potato products to fresh meat and today animal genetics, he brings a wide range of competences within product and concept development, market dynamics and research, which I am sure will benefit the BioMar organization as well as our customer.”

Earlier this month, BioMar announced its hiring of Franck Bodin as its new managing director of the shrimp feed unit that it acquired from Vietnam’s leading shrimp-breeding company, Viet-Uc Seafood Co., in March.
