Rajeeb Naug has taken on the role of international marketing and sales director for North American surimi manufacturer Aquamar Inc. as the company continues to expand in the U.S., Canada, and Central America.
Nuag joined Aquamar in October 2019 and, despite the many pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic, has helped “reinvigorate” the surimi category “through reinvention and transformative packaging changes, forward-thinking marketing partnerships with award winning chefs, and effective social media campaigns highlighting surimi’s sustainability through new recipe ideas and as an untapped source of protein,” the company said.
Over 18 years, Nuag’s career has spanned several specialties including general management, distribution and principal management, sales operations, trade and shopper marketing, and category and key account management. Prior to arriving at Aquamar, Nuag served as general manager for Thani Murshid Trading - United Arab Emirates, establishing the firm “from scratch within 45 days.” By the time he left, Nuag had helped the firm reach annual gross sales of USD 50 million (EUR 42 million).
Additionally, Naug has worked for Proctor and Gamble in Oman, where he got his start in the sales and marketing realm, helping to grow the company’s business by 16 percent in his first few years. He also worked at Mattel – Canada, introducing “avant-garde methods of reaching consumers that led to positive sales and growth to the company,” according to Aquamar’s press release. Naug also developed Mattel’s 2015 Sales Plan, which became the largest customer portfolio in Canada with USD 100 million (EUR 83 million) in annual gross sales.
Aquamar Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Amin Nabli said Nuag has overseen the company turning a new page.
"Rajeeb is spearheading a new chapter in how Aquamar is laser-focused on consumer needs while elevating the marketability of surimi in the seafood category to a growing audience," Nabli said in a press release. "He brings a global mindset honed in on consumers with a perspective that could be called 'consumer empathy,' where we not only recognize the needs of consumers, but where our company makes an effort to understand and relate to their needs."
For Nuag, who holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in business administration, the potential for growth at Aquamar seems limitless.
"Aquamar is an undisputed leader in the sustainable seafood category, and I couldn't be more excited to help lead the company into its next chapter as international marketing and sales director," Naug said. "There is unlimited potential in the next five years as we expand the reach of surimi within a number of sectors, from restaurants to consumers themselves."
