European bioscience company Biomega Group has appointed Silke Middendorf to the role of chief commercial officer (CCO).
In her new role, Middendorf will be responsible for leading the marketing and sales strategies of the business and guiding growth projects to completion. She will report to Biomega Group Chief Executive Officer Stig Petersen.
Bergen, Norway-based Biomega produces salmon-based ingredients both for pet food and human nutrition. It produces hydrolyzed salmon proteins and salmon oil at its food-grade biorefinery in Skaganeset, Norway, which it recently enlarged.
“The Biomega business has a strong focus on connecting life sciences and nutritional ingredients with sustainability and is offering something fresh and unique to the market. I look forward to playing my part in the international growth of the business and helping to raise the business to even greater heights,” Middendorf said.
Middendorf has a doctorate in biophysical chemistry and has experience driving commercial strategy at large globally operating businesses, according to Biomega.

Biomega also announced its new biorefinery in Denmark, at the port of Hirtshals, is on track for completion at the end of the year. The multi-million-dollar facility, purpose-built on land reclaimed from the sea during the development of the harbor, will support will expand the production of the company’s Salmigo product range and Biomega PURE peptides.
The company previously announced a partnership with Quality Salmon on the Quality Salmon Industry Park in Sotenäs, Sweden.
