Royal Greenland refocuses on North American market with rehiring of Soren Dalsager

Royal Greenland has announced the rehiring of Soren Dalsager as CEO of its Royal Greenland US subsidiary, with the goal of achieving further growth in the North American market.

Dalsager held the same position at Royal Greenland for nine years, from 1999 to 2008, before leaving to become the executive vice president of global sales for Regal Springs. He became the chief commercial officer for Russian Fishery Company in December 2018, and then moved on to become the CEO of Pacific Rim Group in June 2019, serving in that position until May 2020, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Based in Nuuk, Greenland, Royal Greenland catches, processes, and markets a portfolio of fresh and frozen seafood products including snow crab, king crab, lobster, coldwater shrimp, Chilean sea bass, Greenland turbot, cod, and haddock. While most of its sales are into foodservice channels, Royal Greenland launched a small retail line recently.

The company opened a North American office in 2018 in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A., which Dalsager will head beginning on 1 Mach.

“The group is optimistic about the outlook for the North American market and believe the local sales team will be a key element to boost and maximize Royal Greenland’s portfolio sales to all channels of this market,” the company said in a press release.

Royal Greenland said its products have found eager markets in Canada, the U.S., and Chile, and that the company will continue to invest in its sales and marketing capabilities targeting the Americas. It said it expects to hire additional sales and marketing staff for its Boston office in the near future.
