Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.-based Orca Bay Foods is recalling a halibut product it makes for Trader Joe’s due to it containing undeclared allergens.
The recall covers 356 cases of Trader Joe’s brand Gluten-Free Battered Halibut, packaged in 10-ounce portions. The product contains undeclared wheat and milk allergens, meaning consumers with an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat and milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The recall was issued on 23 October. According to the notice, the product was sold in Trader Joe's stores in Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Vermont, and Wisconsin.
No illnesses have been reported to date, according to the FDA.
The SKU of the product is 00503822 and the affected code is 537312620. The product has a “Best If Used By” date of 5 November, 2021.
