A U.S. food importer is recalling its packaged salmon because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Brooklyn, New York-baed Euphoria Fancy Food Inc. is recalling its 7.05 -ounce packages of “CAPITAN K” salmon slightly salted pieces, imported from Russia and distributed nationwide via retail stores and mail order.
The contamination was discovered after sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Market Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel, the company said in a press release on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s website. The agencies found the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in some 7.05 oz vacuum packages of the salmon pieces.
“No illnesses have been reported to date and in connection with this problem,” Euphoria said.
The product comes in 7.05 oz, vacuum package marked with container code of 070519 and with a best-by date of 01/30/20. The product UPC code is 607059000362.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled packages should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund, Euphoria said in its release.
