Fresh N Lean recently expanded its seafood options with a new Mediterranean diet meal plan.
The Anaheim, California, U.S.A.-based meal-delivery service is the first ready-to-eat meal company to offer a Mediterranean diet plan, the company said in a press release. It also offers paleo, Protein+, Whole30 Approved, Clean Keto, and vegan meal plans, all using organic ingredients.
Fresh N Lean Co-CEO and Founder Laureen Asseo told SeafoodSource the company is planning to introduce more meals featuring fish and shellfish in the near-future.
“Seafood is important to add in the Mediterranean diet plan because it is low in saturated fat and a great source of healthy protein. Plus, it contains essential omega-3 fats, which support heart and brain health,” Asseo told SeafoodSource. "We are constantly updating our menu to provide new options for our customers so they’re always excited to open their weekly box of meals and discover new options.”
Seafood options in the Mediterranean meal plan include Almond Crusted Cod, Shrimp with Roasted Cauliflower, and Roasted Eggplant Caponata with Cod.
Since launching the company more than 10 years ago, Fresh N Lean has “always offered a lot of seafood options,” Asseo said.
"I’ve limited my meat consumption, so I've always made seafood options a priority,” Asseo said.
Depending on meal-plan choice, customers could receive as many as eight seafood options per week, Asseo said. Typically, the meals include shrimp, salmon, or cod, “with the recipes constantly changing so customers are not tired of any fish,” Asseo said.
Asseo declined to list Fresh N Lean's seafood suppliers or distributors, but she said the company makes its “best efforts to purchase from local farms.”
“We always are selecting the highest-quality seafood to offer to our customers,” Asseo said.
