Captain D’s, Bojangles, and Joella’s Hot Chicken have joined Red Lobster, Quiznos, and a host of other restaurants rolling out seafood items for Lent.
Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.A.-based Captain D’s is featuring Southern-Style Fish Tenders and Butterfly Shrimp in a variety of different plates through 25 April, while Charlotte, North Carolina-based Bojangles is bringing back its Bojangler Fish Sandwich, made with wild Alaskan pollock.
Captain D's, which just announced an ambitious expansion plan for 2021 with the goal of adding 20 additional restaurants, is offering Southern-Style Fish Tenders served with a choice of two sides and hush puppies, starting at USD 5.99 (EUR 5). Guests can also add six pieces of Butterfly Shrimp to their meal.
"Captain D's Fish Tenders and Butterfly Shrimp have always been guest favorites, so they are an easy choice when deciding on a Lent-focused meal," Captain D’s Vice President of National Marketing Bindi Menon said in a press release. ”We pride ourselves on the breadth and affordability of our menu, while always keeping quality top of mind.”
Captain D's is also offering a 12-piece Butterfly Shrimp meal and the limited-time Ultimate Seafood Platter, featuring two pieces of Captain D's famous batter dipped fish, popcorn shrimp, six pieces of butterfly shrimp, and two seafood stuffed crab shells. The restaurant chain is featuring its Creole-Style Seafood Gumbo with shrimp, chicken, sausage and okra, as well as its Funnel Cake Stix.
In addition to the reintroduction of its Bojangler Fish Sandwich, Bojangles is celebrating Alaskan pollock this Lenten season by holding a sweepstakes for consumers to win two roundtrip flights to Alaska, a four-night stay, and cash.
Louisville, Kentucky-based Joella’s Hot Chicken, meanwhile, is launching a new Crispy Cod Plate and bringing back its Crispy Cod Sammie sandwich for a limited time during the Lent, it announced.
Both dishes feature North Atlantic wild-caught cod, which is double beer-battered. The restaurant chain’s Crispy Cod Plate includes two pieces of Crispy Cod with Bama White Dippin' Sauce on the side, and the customer’s choice of one or two sides.
